A CHURCH NOT FOR OURSELVES
REACHING OUT IN MERCY & MISSION
CCC is committed to being a church not for ourselves, but always reaching out for the sake of others—proclaiming the good news of Jesus in word and deed, especially by caring for the poor, the needy, the disabled, and the abused. One major way that we have sought to accomplish this is by forging strong gospel-centered partnerships with our other brothers and sisters in Christ outside CCC. If you would like to become involved in any of the ministries listed below or if you see a need in some other area where our congregation could help, please let us know.
WHERE TO BEGIN
GIVING FREELY OF OUR WEALTH, TALENTS, & TIME
The word ‘radical’ comes from the word ‘root’. As Christians, we give of ourselves not as the world gives—out of excess or convenience—but as the Lord has given to us. We give out of the depths of our own need and trust in Jesus, who gave Himself for our sake. He became poor so that we might be rich in Him (2 Cor. 8:9). As Tim Keller puts it, “Understanding the riches we have already received in Christ not only liberates us from excessive concern over our wealth, talents, and time, but also motivates us to invest them in the eternal kingdom of God.” Our prayer is that the Lord would be shaping us into a community marked by radical generosity, reflecting the extravagant grace of our Savior in all that we give and do.
DAILY LIVING IN AND LIVING OUT THE GOSPEL TOGETHER
Christ Community Church is a community of people and families seeking to be the body of Christ, daily living in and living out the true story of our redemption in Jesus together.
PROCLAIMING & CELEBRATING JESUS AS KING
Church is more than a place or a service. It’s a community of believers being built together by the Spirit into the body and bride of Christ—not once a week, but daily, as we share life together in Him. So what about Sunday? Is it less important? Not at all. During the week we walk with one another in friendships and smaller group settings, but Sundays are special. It’s the one time every week where we are all together as one body to hear, proclaim, and celebrate who Jesus is. Being the church is a daily effort, and the week is long. But Sunday morning is the party.
MORE ABOUT SUNDAYS
BEING BUILT TOGETHER BY THE SPIRIT
Christ Community Church is not simply a meeting place or an organization, but a community of believers seeking to be the body of Christ. Consequently, its members are not merely consumers of religious offerings and services but active participants, organs of one living body—each part serving its God-given function—for the edification of the body and the good of the world. On the one hand, we are striving to be a community that lives life together, bearing one another’s burdens, raising our children together, and encouraging each other in the Lord. Yet at the same time our vision is to be a church not for ourselves, but continually moving outward (alongside fellow believers from other churches and ministries), to love our neighbors and to revitalize the culture of our greater area through love, creativity, and service.
WHERE TO BEGIN
A NEW LENS
BEING RESHAPED BY THE GOSPEL
C. S. Lewis once wrote, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” To believe in the gospel is not merely to know some bit of information that others don’t. It is to begin to see everything and everyone through a new lens. This new lens not only affects how we think, but how we live and how we relate to those around us. At CCC, we are working to help people understand and experience the truths of Scripture in a way that inevitably brings about real life transformation.
